Default Replacing engine bay insulation

I have a 1989 Speedster that needs the insulation replaced. Does the engine need to come out ( I know it’s easier if done), but is it required? Any tips to replace with engine in?

Thanks in advance.

Miserable job and mess with engine in place, but it is possible. You have to remove much of the intake, etc. Cover the engine / lower bay with 2 layers of plastic -- the insulation can be a giant mess.

I don't recommend doing it with the engine in place. Also terrible on your back trying to contort yourself to be able to do the work.

Yes, a partial engine drop will help and is not difficult to do.

Is a "partial engine drop" documented somewhere or can someone briefly explain what is involved? Thanks
