Blew my 3.2 - rebuild w/Motor Meister or replace w/used engine
#16
I am lucky since my mechanic would do it for peanuts also. All I would have to do is let him work on it at his house over a couple of weekends. That is what I get for sharing my car with him in autocrosses and track days and making sure he gets a good Christmas present every year.

There is (or at least was) 993 engine (around 60k miles if I remember correctly) at the EBay that was at the time going for $7100.
911 & Porsche world just had an article about fitting 993 engine into a SC.
Now that would spice things up with your targa!

You are only just "wary" after all the negative postings regarding Motor Sheister on this board and Pelican Parts? If you send your engine to them you deserve what you get. Just don't go whining to us later.

Thanks again for all the excellent responses. I would love to rebuild the engine myself, but I have no mechanical experience and would prefer to have things done correctly.
I am wondering if anyone knows what can mimic the sound of a blown rod? I had the engine running for about 10 min. to move the car (keeping rpm's < 2500). There was no smoke, it developed good oil pressure, but it sounded like a diesel. I'm keeping the engine off to avoid any further damage.
