Noob here, couple questions...
Great site here. I am currently a BMW owner and am getting rid of my 92 325i with a few mods and am considering a Porsche. I like the older 911's... I really like them alot. I have been looking at some between the years 1975-1987 between $6000-$15000...Is it practical to have one of these cars as a daily driver? Is it very expensive to keep these cars up? If it is very expensive would a turbo 944 be a good alternative? Thanks alot for any help!

I, for one, with two exceptions (an oil leak which led to a clutch replacement (upgrade, actually) and a partial transmission rebuild), haven't had any serious issues with my 1986 911 Targa.
I used it as a daily driver from May to October 1999 until I got a winter beater (1995 Dodge Neon Sport). If it weren't for the winters in NJ, I might've stuck with the Targa as a daily driver.
btw- want to buy a 1986 911 Targa?

First of all welcome.
Secondly, do some site searches on specifics: prices, years, daily drivers. You'll find a lot of material.
Some general answers - daily driver is in the mind of the (be)holder, but you can definitely use them as such.
951 is more expensive to maintain than a 911, so don't go there.
'75 - '87 spans 3 generations (well 4): middle year cars, SCs, 3.2 Carreras and 3.2s with G50. You can find one within your budget, as to the details, pros and cons of each model, do those searches and read the rennlist 911 FAQs. There's tons to learn.
Go to it - it's fun and definitely buy one.
