Well, a while ago I posted that my Odometer stopped when I pressed the trip reset button. The best tip was to use a screwdriver to pry out the Clock and then push out the Odometer.
I did not believe it and tried to pull it out by hand -- no way. I tried rubber tip pliers - no luck. I tried painters' tape and pliers - no luck. Nothing grips the bezel
The small screwdriver was the only thing I could get work. The VDO is held in only by friction from a rubber gasket. With a little patience it is not difficult to get it out once you get is started.
After I got it out, I took pictures and labeled many of the wire spots. It was pretty easy to disconnect all the wires to be able to fully remove the device.
I contacted Nichols Speedometer & Instrmnt (Greensboro, NC) and Palo Alto Speedometer (Palo Alto, CA). Nichols was much less expensive and is a no-brainer if you live on the east coast.
They were very fast and even repackaged the Odometer better than the say I sent it to them. I highly recommend them for the Vdo repair.
