Default replacing the smile

Hello,

I have a 1980 Targa that could use a new smile (I'm referring to the thin piece of trim on top of the front bumper). Is there anyone out there that's had this done? Or better still done it themselves?

I'd like to know what the difficulty or cost is????

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Derick

Relatively cheap to buy, relatively easy to do. Advice is to go slowly, if it needs replacing the chances are many of the fixings will have corroded so use plenty of easy fluid over a number of days. On my '76 I took the opportunity to replace the front bellows as well so I removed the quarter panels, this gives better access to the screws holding the 'smile' in place - you definitiely need the front wheels off.

Their was a great step by step article in Excellence about three years ago that went throught the entire process for the bumper strip, smile and installation of a front rubber spoiler.

The process was easy to follow and very accurate as I recall (as I did all three)

I can't locate my copy, maybe someone still has one and can get you the info or check your local library.

Good luck!
