Targa Hardtop

Targa Hardtop
Does anyone here use a factory Targa Hardtop? I have one that I kept off my gone (& forgotten) '75 Targa... one of the best things about the car
What are they worth these days? Are they only applicable to '74 & '75 Targas- the years they were optioned? I am thinking ahead to financing suspension upgrades on my coupe, but tempted to keep it & one day find a great early 2.2 or 2.4 Targa.
Thanks all!

It looks loke you have a fine example of a fairly rare part. I have had 3 of these, one of which is on my car and 1 i sold for $2000.00 and the other for $1800.00. The will fit 74 or maybe even earlier to at least 89. Most targa owners don't know it exists but once you have had one on your car you never want to go back to that old ratty, rattling, squeeking soft top again.

I saw in Excellence an aftermarket fiberglass one piece top. It was downright cheap...under $300 if I remember correctly. There's a company selling them...almost looks like they cloned the factory one.

I think that company sells on Ebay as well. Some of the Pelicanguys seem to have them- very mixed reviews. I think to truly replicate the factory hard top with the same type / quality latch & cohesive construction would cost thousands.
Hunter- I'll give you a call tomorrow.

Hard to believe it would cost that much. A hard top for a Miata costs less, and that has a heated window and is considerably larger and more complex in shape (all curved). I would have to think a flat panel with a headliner and a couple of latches would be a snap to build. Hello aftermarket entrepreneurs!!

True enough, kach22i. Still, if I had a targa and I could buy a resin hard top (like on a Miata) that seals like a modern top, protects against the elements, maybe even worked in a car wash, and it was affordable, I think it would be a worthwhile aftermarket accessory, don't you?
I appreciate your analogy, being the proud owner of an Original Master Recording of Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon," played maybe 5 times only with a perfectly-calibrated Dynavector cartidge, and kept in a climate controlled environment
