First post...
This is my first post so I'll keep it brief. I am on my second 911 - a 1971 911T. Whenever I try to start it cold, it seems like the carburetors are out of fuel. Today I took them apart, and voila, it's true. The floats were sitting on the bottoms with only a little liquid to splash around in.
So, my question is whether this is a normal sort of thing. I don't think there is a leak anywhere - and I am sort of confused about where the fuel is going. Should I just install a checkvalve...?
Thanks,

The Fuel is evaporating from the float bowls. This is why newer cars have vapor recovery systems to stop the pollution from this.
Just run the fuel pump a minute before a cold start if the car sits a few days.
