Default Electric Window Switch Failure

I have a 1980 SC and have not driven the car for a month while it was in temporary storage. When i drove it yesterday the passenger side window switch on the drivers side isn’t working. The switch on the passenger side does work still. Any ideas where I start to fix this. Does the door card have to come off or can I just remove the switch and see if the contact is loose. TIA

Same thing here, I am thinking it’s a loose connection and going to pull the driver panel one of these days to get a look. One thing to note is I can lower the passenger window from drivers side but can’t put it back up.

Just pry the switch out. I carry a few in my car as spares as they aren't the bet quality.

My driver side just went out so I did the normal replacement, but it didn't fix it. My motor may have finally failed.

tried wd40 yesterday and looks like I’ll be needing a new switch, it isn’t stuck just doesn’t power the passenger window back up.

I have had to replace all three of my switches. The new ones have a slightly different textured plastic on them then the old ones, and I agree with the previous post, they don’t seem to be as good a quality as the originals. But they snap in easily. There are a lot of wires on the back of the switch, so I labeled each one before removing it so I knew where to reattach it to the new switch. Otherwise, you might mis-wire it. I’ve also taken the door panels off and cleaned and lubed the mechanisms. The motors seem to be well made and pretty durable.

I think mine is the switch as well, WD40 didn’t do the trick. I will see if my local dealer has switches for 42 year old cars!

Pelican has them, as does Stoddard. I did not bother to search further but probably other sources.

I replaced my driver's side switch some years ago with an OEM part from Pelican. Don't remember the manufacturer but it was not "Porsche". Did not have to remove the door card; overall it was pretty easy. I was also able to repair the old one (hinge pin had broken) so now I have a spare. Take a picture of the connections to the old one before you disassemble..

I jumped in the car for a drive yesterday and the switch worked....it must of heard me talking about replacing it and it got its act together! Maybe it was just the fact that I hadn’t driven it for 6 weeks and the contact was a bit loose but its working like new now.

Thanks for the tips to fix guys.
