Shifter clicking: 1st 3rd 5th

Started yesterday. Small clicking sound when I shift into 1st, 3rd or 5th. I’m still able to activate the gear and drive. I’m just wondering what you all recommend to get rid of that sound. I assume something is coming loose at the shift linkage. I’ll post a vid later illustrating the sound. This is on my 1985 3.2 911.

I’m having difficulty removing the center console to expose the cylinder my shifter rod goes into. I know there’s a bushing I’ll have to replace in there. I’m going to replace the shift coupler entirely to a modern alternative. Hopefully this will do the trick. Franny’s garage has a pretty good video showing how to adjust the linkage. But no one shows how they removed the center console. I can’t get it past my parking break lever.

Got the center console out of the way giving me access. I’ve ordered a shifter bushing kit containing all four bushings I’ll need. A buddy of mine has a machine shop to remove and replace the center pin.

A kit of bushings cost me $18. A new coupler would’ve cost me ~$150. The pin is in the coupler in between two bushings.
My 101 projects book suggests using a heavy duty press to remove the pin but my buddy Francisco from Galgo’s Garage ended up dropping by to remove and reinstall the pin by hand. He also adjusted the coupler until it was shifting smoothly while parked. A quick test drive showed an immediate improvement.
I’ve never felt my 915 transmission shifting so smooth and precise. Next bushing to be replaced will be my steering wheel.
