Post convertable top installation

My 87 needs a new top. Cabrio World sells them. Has anyone used their tops, and how did the install go?

Thx
Jimmy

I didn't buy my top there but I did my own install.

It's not an easy job!

There is a great deal of trim-to-fit. It's not a matter of just bolting it on, fitment is more of an artform. One that no doubt improves with experience.

Getting the rear window wrinkle free is the killer. As a first timer you likely will not get it wrinkle free. I didn't.

Plan on 15-20 hours to complete the tast.

Pros charge around $1500 to do this. That sounds crazy, but unless you are very adventurous it might be money well spent.

Hi Jimmy,

I bought the replacement top for my 87 Cab from them and was very satisfied with both price and quality. The installation is what proves to be the real challenge. Check out the work performed by the installer of your choosing prior to having them learn on your car. Be sure to be specific about whether they have done installations of Porsche two-piece tops. Make sure they know that the rear of the top should fit tight to the body and the tennex fasteners line up with your boot. Mine didn't.

Jimmy,

Could you tell me how much is Cabrio World charging for the supply of parts? (ie no labour or shipping costs)

Thanks, Mark

Chuck,

If you want to get the wrinkles out of your window you might try calling Jeda Generations being you're in San Jose and ask for Jack.

Mark,

I paid $480 for the German weave two-piece top from Cabrio World for my `87 Cab.

Cool...that's cheaper than I imagined.
Now just not sure whether I'm brave enough to fit it myself (sounds like a PITA).

Thanx
Mark
