New Member… 997 turbo vs 991 CS
Hello all. Honored to be a new member and just starting my search for my first 911. I am trying to narrow my focus and am contemplating a 997 Turbo or an early 991 CS. Both are obviously exceptional in all respects. Both are also available at similar price points. I race motorcycles and wherever I land it will probably see some track time but 95 % street, daily driver duties. Thoughts, insight?

The 997 Turbo and 991.1 S are pretty similar in terms of performance and overall driver experience. I've owned both platforms (and a lot of other Porsche's besides); the 997 is a smaller car and thus feels a bit more "sports car" and less "GT" than the 991 platform. Go drive both if you can. Last time I went car shopping I was able to drive a pristine (4000 miles) 993 Turbo, 997-C4, 991 Carrera, 991S, 991 TurboS, and 992T in rapid succession. I bought the 991 TurboS. Easy choice.

I cant wrap my head around that a Carrera is now a turbo 911... I would buy a "Turbo" since it was intended to be that way and not because of keeping up with the industry trend of turbo.. ing everything. Im sure this has been discussed to death (or maybe not). To be fair I own an M3 (f80) that is a first gen twin turbo when all previous m3's were NA... I do love the Turbo, but it needs to be tracked to really feel the car.
