Yes, I put 5.25 Polks in my 1984 Carrera doors with relative ease, a few years ago. As I recall, the factory weather shields needed some cut away mods and the freakin' snap in/pressure fit POLK screen grills still faall off from time to time.
regards,
Steve

I put them in last night, no issues and no cutting required............they actually don't sound to bad either.

Finally rid of my crappy dented faded Alpines.

Randywebb,

unfortunately my Alpines were toasted, they were very old and had the cardboard like material for the cones, the drivers side didn't even work. I just happened to get a good price on the Polks and they fit nicely. Honestly I'm no audiophile so the I would probably be the wrong guy to compare the Alpines / Polks.

The crappy dented comment was strictly an asthetics thing, sorry for the confusion.

"Polks were better than Alpines???"

If the Alpines were ancient... then almost any mid-priced modern speaker would be an improvement. Speaker tech has changed a lot over the past few years.
