Default black paint for Fuchs wheels

My Fuchs are faded.....at least I think they are. I have read several threads where people used satin black and other shades. I am wondering if there is a specific color for the correct factory look. Coming over from BMW's, there was a specific silver used on vintage wheels. Just wondering if there is one for the Fuchs. Thank you.

Jim,
Thank you. After I posted, I did some reading and it seems like Wurth Satin black was the one that closely resembled OEM. I found Satin only available as a plastic trim paint. I wonder if the matt black is the new Satin??

Ernest,

I got the paint from Stoddard and they represented on their site that it was correct for the car. Someone on this forum will know and I hold off doing my wheels for a bit. The Stoddard number is:NLA-095-052-00 Wurth Matte Black Spray Paint NLA09505200

SKU: NLA-095-052-00

Regards,

Jim

Thank you for the ordering information. If you do paint them, please post some pictures. I dont enjoy painting. Actually, I dont enjoy paint prepping, which is the key to painting. I wonder what my body shop guy would say if I brought him the wheels and a spray can??

I plan on doing it after I get the shocks and some minor suspension work done next week. Pulling the wheels and doing a wet sanding should be fairly easy. I'll post the finished product.

I wonder what the difference is between satin and matte? Satin could be more glossy.

What did you use to tape off the alloy?

i used a very thin painters tape. it was almost plastic .. then some masking tape on that, then paper.. i will see if i can find a pic.

i did this is a temporary measure until i could get them professionally done ... 10 years ago .. paint has held up very well..

i hit them with some sandpaper to rough them up so the paint would stick but i just don't remember the details from 2009. well except that i payed 500 bucks for 4 7 by 16s. i still have yet to put the spacers on the rear

Any clue where you can buy the satin black in the US? I tried searching but cant find anyone that lists it. They only show Matte black.

Rustoleum Satin Black 7777 is also supposed to be a good match. If you can't get the Wurth satin, I would go with that. Matte just isn't the right finish.
