1986 Power Door Lock Issue
Hello Rennist,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been watching the 992 forum for quite a while. I'm trying to work toward the goal of owning a 992 C2S in the next few years. Anyway, I'm looking for some help for my brother. He has a 1986 Carrera with an issue with the power door locks. He can unlock the doors from either side, but cannot lock from the drivers side. The passenger side works fine. He's had most of the mechanism replaced, but the garage (a Porsche specialist) hasn't been able to solve the problem. I believe the only thing he hasn't had replaced is the lock cylinder. Unfortunately, it appears that Porsche only used this locking mechanism in 1986 before changing to a more resilient mechanism. Also, it appears that just the cylinder is very difficult to find. You can get the entire handle, lock, etc. for around $600, but that seems like overkill and I believe would require a rekey.
I'm wondering if anyone has seen this type of issue, or happens to have a driver lock cylinder they'd be willing to part with. Any help would be appreciated.

Mark,
I have an 85 cab and have the same issue intermittently when locking my driver's door. I have one original key so I doubt a poor key copy is the problem.
A few years I got an alarm for my 89 cab and the alarm fob also locked and locked the doors. If my issue worsens I will get one installed and not fight the lock issue. Thanks for the intel.
