A Factory Spec (Euro/ROW) 1985 3.2 Carrera has no emissions equipment installed. Higher compression and required the use of high octane leaded fuel. They run quite well on 98RON Unleaded Fuel available nowadays here in Europe.
US law required emissions equipment and this lowered compression, HP and of course they ran on unleaded lower octane fuel.
The differences between Factory Spec and US requirements gradually dwindled after 1986 but have not been totally eliminated but the differences now are fairly minor.
If you are living in the USA I am sure you would have a converted 1985 3.2 Carrera which means it is no longer Factory Spec.

Hello
Porsche engines never "needed" lead.
The lead is just used as octanebooster.
As fuel quality is a issue in the staates Porsche went down to normal fuel qualitys
( Starting with the 69 2,2 engines. Even the 2,7 RS engine runs on normal pump gas ).
85 on 911 had a catalyt preparation from the factory ( buy the parts and built it in ) with a own DME unit retarding the ignition for minimum premium fuel useage.
Some ROW in germany where ordered with catalyc converter but built in the premuffler as only germany had full coverage on premium unleaded but not complete europe.
Owner received a tax reduction and even a direct subvention to run a catalyc.
In 85 Porsche decided to construct and built no engine without catalyc converter specs ( the 944 Turbo engine was first without ROW spec and then higher performance ) anymore and all german delivery Porsche had the converter stock except you deletet that order ( Got the 10 kw benefit too ). In 88 it wasn´t possible to delete the catalyc delivery in germany but some just ordererd via a european neighbour.
Since 88 no new cars without catalyc get permissions ( OK Ford GB managed to push that up to 91 with there Fiestas ).
So if you have a 930/20 it is possible that it runs on 930/25 specs while a 930/21 is a low compression US spec. Yet the main difference between 930/21 and 930/25 is the DME.
General difference between 930/20 and 930/21:
Piston and Cylinder, Spark plugs, DME brain.
Grüsse
