Default 35:8 ring & pinion???

Okay, one of you old-timers can answer this...

Went into the warehouse today to dig out a replacement ring and pinion shaft in preperation to fix dad's barfed tranny. (290 HP behind a 901, yah right.) Anyway there was a box labled "salem's long box", no 901 case but all the 901 guts. I don't know if it came from the 914/6 days when disco was King or the 911 GT-3 era '85 ~ '98.

But 35:8???? If this is some unobtainium thing maybe I won't use it. What or where was a 35:8 final drive ever used? Doug? Walt? Steve? Anybody?

(also found a Hazet #794-U3 ring compresor VERY COOL. Dial in the diameter and it does the rest. That had to come to my toolbox, would have been disrespecfull not to.)

Thanks,
e
