I've read good things about the Wevo shifter, but I haven't found anything regarding the Seine Systems gate shifter.

Has anyone tried both? How is the Seine shifter compared to the Wevo unit?

Very different products. One is a spring-assist and a lock-out gate, to help prevent blown shifts. The other is a complete shifter replacement, with some of the same functionality.

 

Actually, the Gateshift is the product they sell to go inside the tranny to better define the throws (gates). Jack, I think you're thinking of a different product (their shifter which replaces the standard shift lever and associated mecahnicals outside the tranny).

 

Perhaps a graduated scale of value would shead some light. Bang for the buck, which route?

2. Seine Systems gate shifter $150.00

3. Wevo (shifter only) $600.00

4. Wevo full "get into your trans" system $1,600.00

I figured in my time as a value, and hoped for a reasonable upgrade to the weak stock set up. Where is that Seine shifter, I ordered it over a week ago from a funny bird with a bill?

 

I wasn't talking about the internal Wevo piece (my tranny's got one). Both the Wevo shifter replacement and the Seine device do some shifter 'gating.' As I read the initial post, he's asking about the differences between the Wevo shifter replacement and what Seine calls their 'gate shift kit.'

Well now that we have that straight, what do you think about the Wevo gateshift and Wevo shifter, Jack? Was considering both pieces and their coupler when I re-gear my 915...

 

I don't have their shifter or coupler, but my tranny came with the internal gate. Unfortunately, I never shifted it without the gate, so I don't know how big an improvement it is. Maybe it should suffice to say that I don't know why people are ever down on the 915. In my experience, it's a great transaxle.

Wevo's stuff is all first-rate, in my experience. I wish I'd discovered them before I put on a Robotek. Now I've got to wait for it to break, so I can get their shifter and coupler.

 

Not to hijack the thread but I just ordered up a Renshift shifter with the reverse lockout.

After much research on here, Pelican and others decided to go with it. I can report back on how it works out.

I have a Seine kit never used for sale for those interested and a never used oem factory short shift kit as well.

I have the Wevo shifter & coupler in my '73 Targa street/track car. I recently bought a '74 RSR clone (track car) which has the Wevo shifter, coupler and gate shift kit. The gate shift kit makes it even more presise.

 

I installed a seinesystems gate shifter kit (and WEVO Coupler) this winter in my '76 911. Both the seine kit and the WEVO kit look to be nearly identical, except for the price. I am very happy with the seine kit. The biggest before/after difference is the spring loaded 1-2 gate. The kit will not perform miracles. While you're in there, "blueprint" the shifter (it's easy and explained in the instructions), change all bushings and trans fluid. After all that your trans will feel as good as it'e ever going to, without surgery.

I have WEVO's shifter and PSJ (coupler) on my '72. Works great. once all adjusted it shifts better than my '03 MazdaSpeed.

On the shelf, for a reason, is a seine shifter and an OE short shifter. anybody want them?

I ordered the seine-systems gate shifter kit, but thought all the bushings were included in the kit. The only extra I ordered is the guide at the other end of the assembly.

What bushings don't come included? All of them?

 

No bushings come with the Seine kit. For the 915 trans, you should replace the plastic ball bushing at the end of the shift lever, the plastic ring bushing that supports the fore-aft shifter rod, and the two plastic bushings in the coupler under the inspection cover in front of the rear seats. (Alternatively, you can replace the whole coupler: OEM $70, or WEVO/SEINE: $200). All are available at our host. The plastic bushings are cheap.
