Default Rear window seals rippled

I recently tried to replace the rear quarter panel window seals on my 74S. I read that even experienced Porsche shops often have problems with fitting seals and cracking windows. Luckily, I didn't crack the window but certainly struggled to get the newly sealed window back in its home, WD40 helped. Unfortunately, both sides are rippled at the rear bend and it looks terrible. On one side, I can't get the final bottom screw in where the window connects to the door panel. Also, the seal doesn't go around seamlessly, the inner gasket seems to pop out at the rear bend or even by the straight edge near the door. Anybody have any advice or tricks? I bought the seal on Pelican (I think Uro brand) and made sure not to stretch it. Any way to salvage this?

Can you post a few more pics of the over all installation on the inside and outside? also detailed photos of the forward seal edge in the door jamb area?

Is it possible that you have the L and R seals swapped? I believe the lower length oft eh glass to the rear curve is longer that the upper edge. If yoube got the seals swapped side to side it could be that the molded curve of the seal is trying to seat on the straighter section at the bottom of the glass and vausing the wrinkles where the molded curve is being straightened out?

Hi 74Red80S, are these our seals 901 543 901 20 and 901 543 902 20? If so, we're currently redesigning them, and could get you a warranty replacement pair of the new version in six to nine months.

We sell more than 500 of each side of the current version without any defect returns, but we recently received some complaints about the fit (typically saying the center section of the profile is too thick), so our engineers decided to redesign them.

Thanks for the feedback. @76FJ55 I am posting a few more pictures. I took close attention to not swap sides. In fact, I swapped one when I was first installing in case the product was mislabeled or I made a mistake. It was obviously much worse and I put it back to the properly labeled side. In the pictures, the seals do not fit properly in the middle section either. It looks like the URO company may be aware of some flaws.

@URO Support yes they are 901-543-901-20-M253. I very much appreciate your message and the offer to provide a warranty or a replacement. As above, you can also see the product does not fit near the door either. Could you PM with details?

PM sent!

If anyone else needs to make a warranty exchange request, please email "sales at uro parts dot com" with a copy of your invoice or order confirmation about nine months from now (Spring 2022), so we can get you taken care of.
