Default Frustrated 😬

Hi all.....just joined and would like to pose a question to anyone out there in the know....and I’m hoping there is a few of you who can possibly help me..I just bought a very nice first Porsche,,,a 69 911t in original condition...love this car....
when this car arrived at my home I noticed upon first start up that the starter was making an unusual noise...upon inspection I noticed that the starter was new ...but beyond this I could see teeth missing from the flywheel....first Porsche, first engine out.....replaced rear seal, clutch, flywheel and upgraded starter to a higher powered one ....a relatively simple project....everything was going well until a few days ago when I heard a familiar noise.... the dreaded starter squeal.....upon inspection again the new starter has knocked some teeth out of the new flywheel....how can this be....... if anyone can help me at all I would really appreciate some input....
Tony.......and crying lol.

I have heard of multiple starter failures on the same car.....bad luck?

I have also seen what was called a direct replacement starter having a mounting flange to engagement gear difference that
was enough to cause issues. Not sure why you are knocking out teeth from the flywheel. I would check the mounting flange to
engagement gear.

A stock 1969 911T has no need for a higher-powered starter, which are a tighter fit than the OEM starter. So, your install wasn't really "by the book". Per AG81's comment, a rebuilt OEM starter is a cheaper and safer bet.
