Default Weird 1980 911 conversion value?

Okay so locally I found a 1980 sc with a rebuilt engine up for sale. It's a convertible but here's the kicker it has a 996 body conversion lol how much does that depreciate this car? It says it has about 100,000 miles on the chassis. What's it worth roughly?

Gotta see some pics of this, please. Sounds horrible. Who would do such a thing?

Might be worth more (to me, at least) if they had left the SC body and swapped in a VW engine.

But hey, if the price is right ... (and sorry, no ability to guess on that).

If you can put a price on the engine and transaxle, that would give you a good base, and those alone should be worth some coin.

even if it was a 996 body on a 996 chassis its value would be low .. so imagine how low it is now ?
the only think increasing it is the air cooled engine .

wow that is weird. well a good running 3L motor is ~10k... maybe more if really fresh and well done

parts value you could probably get 15k so if you can live with the weirdness ... sure?

But man ever panel is trashed on that thing...

That "Frankenporsche" conversion was done to satisfy the specific taste quirks of the person who did it; the owner has to know and understand that, even though it may be his pride and joy. There will be very few prospective buyers for such a car. But if you like it, I would offer far less than $15K; I doubt you'll have much competition. However, I suspect the seller would take offense at a ridiculously low-ball yet realistic offer.

Well, like just about everything else in life, that car is worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it. Having said that, I think that thing really isn't worth much, because there aren't going to be a lot of people who desire an SC or 996 turbo cab, and are willing to buy that car. I think the seller would have better luck trying to sell that car in Florida. I'm with raspritz, above. Maybe $15K if I was inebriated.

yeah thats a toughie ... this may sound stupid, but i think he would get more for that car parting it out.. and it actually may sell quicker, but you just never know .. to me the value is about 5k . Why ? that is the max i would pay to have a spare engine sitting on the shelf that i really dont need as 3.0 litres are pretty indestructible.

Well I bought the car just drove it home, here is a picture of the engine. Appears to be a 3.2 to me from my experience. They said it has a cam. Which idk if it's true but it has a weird issue where during idle the idle will drop sometimes and jump back up. Idk if that's because of the cam or something else?

That is a 3.2 You might want start with that vacuum line thats not hooked up to anything at the center of the intake! Your idle control valve 'looks' newer, usually idle issues are related to the ICV or vacuum leaks causing extra air in the intake which then the ICV struggles to control.

I believe that's a hose for the compressor that was removed
