Default Fuel Additives?

I saw in a recent post that additives (fuel injector cleaners) are not recommended? Have others heard this as well and if so can you tell me why? I use them about 2-4 times a season in my 78.
Thanks

I've had good luck with Techron. Seems to get the cobwebs out

Two tanks with techron, then an oil change. There's plenty about this in previous posts as to the reasoning.

I use 44K and it cleared up idle problems on my 88 Carrera 3.2L.

Its not just the injectors that appreciate a 'little oiling' - the fuel head contains a very thin metal plate with really tiny holes in it - this also appreciates the lubricant and cleaner.
