Default 3.2L Rear Seat Removal / Delete

Good Morning,

I purchased my 1988 3.2L a few months ago and would like to start the weight saving process. Does anyone have any recommendations for removing the rear seats? Ive noticed the carpet on the seat backs is attached, should I just cut that? Does anyone make a rear seat delete carpet kit? Any advice appreciated before I dive in this Sunday.

I don’t think the rear seats weigh much, maybe a kg total if you take the belts out too, but probably less.

What is the goal here, just curious as to where else you are looking to save weight.

just take out the seat backs

then get to work on replacing the entire rear bumper with FG, or substitute Euro crush tubes for the heavy bumper shocks

no need to cut the carpet- the seat backs have carpet that is tucked up and behind the rear shelf. once you undo the bolts to the seats you should be able to pull the seat back and carpet out.
