There is a buyer for every car and if you don't "need" to sell it, put it up for 35k and see what happens. I have been offered mid 40's for my 88 CS and although a couple things are changing with my personal life, I will sell the C4S before I sell the CS.
There are a ton of '87-89 fans and can tell you from some of my searches, there are a lot more garage queens than most people realize. I don't know what premium to attach to low mileage cars, but some people would rather have a '89 with 20k miles than a 993 with 60k miles for the same price. That is the person you are looking for...be patient if you can and they will surface.
All the listing sources previously mentioned are good, just be prepared for a lot of tire kickers if you put it on e-bay.

David, another person in the area hooked me up with a young man who is a full time Senior Mechanical Eng student at Tech (3.4 GPA) and turns wrenches full time at a Porsche/Mercedees shop in midtown (past 2 years). He works on race cars, is restoring his own 69 911S and helps folks like me out on the side. Guess he never sleeps. Great find!
Regarding your car, there are folks around here looking for a concour candidate, with the Parade in Tampa in '03. Are you a PCA member? The next ATL concour is early October. If you haven't sold it by then, you could possibly bring it up to show/sell.

Good reply Charles! I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully, I'll still have the car then, because it literally makes me ill just thinking about selling it.
Hope to see you then!

I think what I'll do though, is try putting it up on Rennlist's classifieds, and then go from there.
Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully it will take a long time to sell, so that I can enjoy it in the meantime.

david, hate to say it, if you sell the car now, it may be a while before you can replace it w/ a similar car. doesn't sound like you drive it much w/16k miles on the clock. since you have $30-$35k tied up in the 89, what if you sell it, and buy an earlier model (71-73?) in decent shape, for ~$10-12k. It won't depreciate, you can still have a toy and $$$ in the bank.
I told a co-worker about your car. he has been holding out for his neighbors turbo cab, but is starting to consider a coupe.

David,
At the end of the day, if you dont need to sell it right away, then quote a price and stick with it... after all, you also want to make sure it goes to the right person.
Case in point...I advertised my diamond blue metallic 1990 964 C4 for sale over a year ago in the local papers...and quoted a price that I felt was right...for anything else I decided the car would stay with me.
Over a year later, a gentleman calls me out of the blue to ask if the car is still for sale. Turns out he was an absolute enthusiast and offered the right price...a deal was struck, and the car was sold within the same day. Since then I have seen the car every weekend as the person who bought my car happened to be an absolute enthusiast that I could spend time hanging out with...nothing better than that.
Stick with it and the car will be sold at the right price to the right person...
Cheers
