Default Air cleaner assembly part question. 3.2L

I ordered a new air assembly from porsche as mine was missing when I purchased my ‘87. When I received it, it was missing the air horn that spins around from the back. Called, and evidently its no longer a part that is sent, and was told it cannot be ordered. Any thoughts on what to do? How to source? Or something to retrofit?

thanks!!

Post a pic of what you have and what you need?
i suspect the part you want you can get from a dismantled like autobahn or la dismantled.

I suspect the part you want is the one most people take off and throw away for more induction noise...

I believe he means the snorkel. I tried finding one and ended up posting a WTB in the Classifieds and located one.

Yep! The snorkel. I circled the two pieces that is no longer available. Is there a better option in the event I do not source one?

I have to believe with all of the 3.2 that have been converted to a K&N filter cone that there are a lot of these old air boxes sitting on shelves unused some where. I would post on all of the typical Porsche forums.

ive heard that the k&ns aren't a good choice and can cause problems. I had one in a Toyota tundra that was casing MAF issues.

I stopped using them for the very same reason in another application.

There is someone on Pelican looking for the K&N parts, maybe a trade is possible.

Does Stoddard carry the parts needed?
I bought my '87 a year and a half ago and it came with a K&N and a Ford MAF(!), likely because the porsche MAF kept failing. I'd love to have the OEM airbox in mine, but same issue finding the replacement parts. For my otherwise stock, rebuilt engine, I was surprised the prior owner would put the K&N on it. I can't even remove it myself because I can't reach the rear fasteners with the engine in the car. It's that tight.

What is part #3 called and what is it’s purpose? It is necessary to have it if switching a K&N intake back to stock?

Went through the same thing a year ago. I kept searching for a snorkel and finally found one online from a forum member. Keep looking and beware of scammers.
