Default Tire Sizes

Hello:
I have installed RS Flares on my '70 911. I have also purchased 8"x16" Fuchs wheels with a 951 offset for the front and 9"x16" Fuchs wheels from an early 930 for the rear. I've been told by several people who are actually running these wheel sizes on their cars that these wheels do, in fact fit. I have also "rolled" the fender edges to secure an additional 1/2"-3/4" inch inside the fender well. I'm getting the car back from the paint shop in a couple of days and I need to confirm the maximum size street/track tire I can use on my car now that I finally have the wheels for the project. If any one out there, can help me, Please post ASAP!

Thanks
Jim

I would remove most of the lips rater than roll them, it gives you a little more clearance.

225/50x16 will usually it in the front on the +23.3mm 8x16 Fuchs, though contact at the tub is likely like here
when at fiull lock. Usually a little more negative camber is needed as well. Sometimes people chose 225/45 to leave a little more room.

In the back 245/45x16 on the +15mm o/s 9x16 Fuchs works really well w/ no clearance issues at all.

Those are the best available 16" choices.

If 17s are used 235/45 or 245/40f and 275/40 rear can be fitted if a little additional work is done

Thanks Bill, I really respect the input you've given to other users and hoped you would be one of the respondants giving me info. Would it be a mistake to work on the tub in the area where your pic indicates rubbing to buy a little more room to improve the "Lock To Lock" wheel travel?

I had no trouble making the add'l room necessary to fit this car with a late model 915 trans in the car, but that location is nowhere near suspension pick-up points. I would not want to cause any alignment issues.

Thanks
Jim
