Why do you think tht you need a brake upgrade?

You might want to do some research. Try here for starters.

Ditto Kahuna, you don't really "need" a brake upgrade. I race a G Stock SC... stock brakes with just race pads and fluid, and they are extremely effective (although they wear out like crazy). Good performance street (not full race) pads and high temp fluid will work wonders day to day.

You can actually get too much brakes on these cars... they are light and humongous brakes can make it harder to modulate the brakes resulting in flat-spotted tires etc.

That said, big brakes are sexy and if you have the money, go for it.

Big brakes are not just sexy, they're necessary if you drive hard enough on certain tracks (with R rubber). The track where I live is so tough on brakes that I was getting fade with a car that weighs less than 2,000 lbs (and 911T brakes). I have the 930 brakes from Steve W at www.rennsport.com and now the brakes are fade-proof.

SC brakes are adequate for some SC's but not nearly all of them. If you have big sticky tires and suspension mods and motor mods, you'll need to get brakes. Pads and fluid and air vents will only take you so far. If you want to be able to drive long sessions and not have to worry about fading, consider the 930 brakes - they're fabulous!

Mark - I would agree that stock SC brakes are certainly sufficient for a street driven SC. And Steve's link was wrong, it's www.rennsportsystems.com

Getting bigger brakes than you need will make your car slower (more unsprung and rotating mass), but smaller brakes than you need is alot scarier (ever hit the floorboards with the brake pedal at the end of a 110 mph straight?)

Agree with the others that for street usage, stock SC brakes are fine. If you want a little more brake feel/bite, you can look at pads like Performance Friction Z-rated pads, Hawk HP+, and other vendors have similar pads that are not race pads, but more aggressive than stock pads.

If you haven't, you may want to read the 911SC FAQ on tech.rennlist.com. Also discussed there are brake upgrades and specifically the 930 brake upgrade.

Grant G... agree that for racing/track, bigger brakes would definately be good.. but that would bump me up to F stock where I'd get smeared like a bug on a windshield... SC brakes get the job done, but I vaporize rotors.. the Frozen Rotors last twice as long for twice the price...(...gee whats the math here?....) but are worth it for the convenience

JCP911S - Does you brake pedal ever get soft during races, so that you have to conserve brakes (or does it stay firm and just use up pads and rotors quickly)? Just curious - and I understand your situation - moving up a class would be the start of a very slippery slope

Haven't had noticable brake fade in the car as long as I use Hawk Blue pads and ATE high temp racing fluid. I have Cool Brakes ducted to holes in the front spoiler. My biggest problem is brake lockup with the Hoosiers... especially in the rear. Adjustable proportionaing valves are not allowed in stock for these cars. I have considered doing some experimenting using less aggressive pads in the rears.... say Hawk blue in front, and Pagid orange in rear... or the like, but at $100+ an axel, experimenting with brake pads is a luxury I can't really afford.
