I was really wondering what car(s) got you into Porsches or maybe even just got you interested in cars in general? Personally I love the '73 RS but the older Porsches alone got me interested, I just love the shape and how they drive.

The iconic 930. I was maybe 9 or 10, and had posters of this icon (along with the 308 that Magnum PI drove ) all over my room. And when in my 20s a buddy of mine landed a serious job and got an SC (used, of course), and he let me drive it, that was it, game over, nothing but nothing felt as involved, tactile, and immediate as a 911. Hook, line, sinker, I was all over it

The posters on my wall were of red Ferraris. But in the summer of 1966, I was visiting my father in Los Angeles. I was 15, the music was iconic, it was LA, and nearby Malibu beach was littered with gorgeous "California Girls". My father was totally jazzed about sports cars, particularly the Porsche 911, and especially the new S model. To his mind, there was only one color for a sports car; red. Put plainly, he'd have given his left ******** for a ride in a Porsche. Sadly, he never had a sports car, and I don't think he ever got that ride in a Porsche. My dad passed away 25 years ago, and when I told this story to his then-wife (who also wondered why I like Porsches), she said she'd never heard any of this. So, almost every day I drive my TurboS, but especially when I race my red 1967 911S, I lift an imaginary glass in the air to my dad, out there in the Cosmos.

always loved Porsche. Boss at pizza joint i worked In high at had 2 euro import cars. A red targa and a 930. Used to take them to get them washed. And hoon the crap out of them.

Road and Track magazines. Brought home by my mom for my dad. But my brother and I spent hours studying the pages.

Old 60s Le Mans race footages. Saw Porsche 906/910/908 and thought how other worldly and un-911 these Porsches looked.

Imagination captured. Saw first 911 years later. Raced first 911 a decade after that.

My previous was a '69 Boat-tail Alfa Spider, I had a real disdain for 911, til the '73 RS came out, my next was a '72 w/ RS wheels/tires and body work, next was a '76 C3 which I still have and drive daily

In 1972 I was fresh out of college with a new job which paid about $10k per year. I was flush with bucks! I attended an office party and a co-worker had a 356C Coupe. He let me drive it and that was it for me. The next year I bought my 356B (T6) coupe, which I still have. I added my 1987 Carrera in 2004 and have had a smile on my face ever since.

My "gateway" car was a Mercedes Benz 190 E; it had sweet 16 valve engine and great suspension. I was very fortunate to have that as a graduation gift from my parents.
It was not long after I had that car that I found out about Porsche's- especially the 911.
I lusted after the 73 RS and it remains one of my holy grail cars but at this point I doubt I will be able to get into one.
I do, however, tremendously enjoy my '87 coupe.

but I was hypnotized by the curves of the 928 from a couple of angles, it took a good 15 minutes to drag me away

Mine was a '77 Alfa Spider Veloce. The PO had it converted to Webers ...what a glorious sound! I miss it today at times, particularly in So-Cal top-down weather, but a hop in the ol' SC (with SSI/Dansk) fills that void soon as you hit the go pedal

My story is some what similar to raspritz. The year was 1970 and my dad was an Airline Pilot who had a great many friends who loved cars. Dad was a family man with 6 children so he drove a wagon. Being a genius with tools, all of dad's buddies found their way to our garage, eventually. Corvettes, T-birds, Triumphs, Jaguars and Alfa's all spent time there and I watched and went to the school of Dad. I saw my first 911 in 1975.

I've been fortunate to own pretty much every form of sports car imaginable but came to air cooled cars late in life. I like the simplicity of the 911. I like being able to do my own work.

Dad has been gone 23 years but I think about him every day and thank him for his influence on my life and my love of cars.

When my older brother brought home a blood orange 914-6 followed by a 1970 911S that was also Blood Orange.

Had to sell the 911 a year later after outrunning the SHP on the Long Island NSP a few times in the 70s, LOL

I started with Volkswagens as a teenager and always dreamed of being able to afford to upgrade to the Porsche world. I loved reading magazines about Porsche (started reading Excellence in high school) and had a poster of the Lowenbrau 956 on my bedroom wall. I rewarded myself with a Porsche when I achieved the first major milestone in my career - owning a Porsche was always out there as one of my motivators.
