Default Ordering Custom Wheels - Help with sizes?

Hey guys, I am ordering some custom wheels for the first time and overwhelmed with the information. I'm debating on either going:

1) 16x7 front 16x8 rear 205/55 front 225/50 rear

2) 16x7 front 16x9 rear 205/55 front 245/45 rear

I like the look of option 2 more but I'm a little concerned about tire options for 16x9 rears. Does anyone run 16x8 rear? Will the 9 be that much more beneficial?

Also, can someone tell me what offsets I would need for the above sizes for the car to look "flush" when lowered? I don't mind if I have to roll the fenders. When placing my order I am not sure what I need to put as my offset.

I would like to avoid running spacers and this is the type of fitment I would like (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1442948769.jpg)

Thanks in advance!

Different size tires have different "Roll Out" The over all finished width of the tire on the ground. My custom 8" rears finished at 10" +. I was worried that the passenger side rear might rub the oil lines if I went with 9".
I was also wanting the right offset that allowed me to get as close to the fender (and not rub) as possible. I personally did not see the need to go to 9" rears. Others have tho.

My rear offset is et 10 on an 8" rim running a 255/40.....I could not be happier.

Thanks, AG81. I placed an order for the 7/8s

Going to be running 16x7 +23 front and 16x8+10 rear wrapped in 205/55 and 225/50 respectively. Will post pics when the wheels come in and are mounted on the car but after digging around the archives of rennlist/pelican this should be flush.

I would've thought a 255/40 would be big of a tire on an 8" rim?

It works great..... looks very appropriate. I had previously run 225/50 on an 8 for my rear tire.... those calculate out as 24.9 dia, 8.9" roll out, 4.4" sidewall, 78.1 circumference....... The 255/40 calculate out as 25.0 dia, 10" roll out, 4.0" sidewall. 78.6 circumference

That's personal and so no comment
It works great.
That's non sense, a 255/40 x17 is spec'd for an 8.5" to a 10" wheel it will be most comfortable on an 8.5 and perform best on a 10

the wheel does distort the carcass
on an 8,5 a 255/40 should measure out to ~255/41, w/ 826 revs/mi, the rolling radius will depend on chassis wt & tire pressure but the rolling radius will be ~12.2" the std radius is ~12.5" the difference in those 2 #s is called the tire deflection

roll out is how far the axle travels when the tire is rolled it correlated to the revs/mi and can be done either loaded or not
