Traynor Porsche dealer info
I am looking for any information about an old Porsche dealer here in Connecticut called Traynor Porsche. From the clues I have, it seems to have been a dealership at least until the mid-80's (it is where my new-to-me '86 Carrera was originally delivered).
If anyone can confirm this name / dealer or have any information about it, a reply would be appreciated.
Thanks,
PC

I used to live in Connecticut and visitied that dealer frequently. It was in fact called Traynor Porsche Audi and was located in Fairfield, CT. If I remember correctly, I think it went under in about 1989, or thereabouts.
In addition to Porsche and Audi, they sold the now defunct "Sterling" brand. By the late 80's all three manufacturers were having problems, which I would imagine, greatly contributed to the demise of Traynor.

Thanks guys, that's great info. I have dealer stamps up to about 9,000 miles in the maintenance book from a dealer in Fairfield, CT (likely this same place) as well as a Traynor Porsche card with the original owners' name and address. The weird part is that since the car was originally delivered, it has spent most of its time with two different owners in NJ, and now it's back here in CT, about 5 minutes from its original owner. I am going to contact him to see if he has any information about the car from back when he had it. He'll probably be surprised.
Thanks again.

Traynor Motor Cars was a dealership in Fairfield, CT. I have looked into it and I found that it had sold in 1990 which was the last year it was open. The place sold Ford, Volkswagen, Audi and Porsches. The owner was James. H Traynor who ended up dying in 1992 in a motorcycle accident. The place had relocated sometime in the mid 80's as on my dealer card it shows a different address for my 84 928s than a later 1990 944 that was also sold at Traynor Motors. I believe the place opened up in the 60's or 70's. I have found a couple of advertisements that show Traynor Motors in the late 70's to mid 80's. That's all I could get on the place.

I grew up in Fairfield. You should reach out to Ron Barnaba of https://www.barnabaautosport.com/. Ron worked at Pray Porsche in Greenwich from 1970-1977. Then he was at Traynor Porsche in Fairfield from 1977- 1979. He opened his own shop in 1979-1993 in Danbury, CT.
Ron will certainly be helpful if he can. He's still working on Porsches 40 years later.
PM me for his email if you need it.

Ordered my 1987 930 from Traynor Porsche in Fairfield, Connecticut in October 1986. Took delivery in early 1987. Still have the dealer order sheet. Grand Prix White w/burgundy leather sport seats, limited slip, and sunroof. $62k out the door included dealer prep, Connecticut sales tax and the Federal gas guzzler tax ;-)
Eventually traded it in on a Winnebago motorhome (!)
Often wonder if it is still on the road. Should have never sold it (sigh)...
