The black marks under the car are pieces of gravel or other road debris. The photo I attached to this thread is actually not the reduced portion of the image I have. (It may actually be a scan I did of an old Porsche magazine ad, but rest assured that the poster is of that image) The actual poster had PORSCHE spelled from top to bottom on the far left of the poster. When I get home tonight I'll use photoshop to shrink down the actual TIFF image.

I am not referring to the flying gravel. The file Noel sent me does indeed include the word "Porsche" on the left side, but it was cropped on my screen grab. The black marks I am talking about are actually squares that you can see if you look real close on your monitor. I will bring it into photoshop and play with the contrast so you can see what I am talking about. My concern is that at 24"x36", those "Squares" will be much more obvious. That is why I am going to see if I can fix it.

I see the squares you mentioned. Very strange. I wonder if this was a problem with whoever did the original scan. I believe that I found this file about two years ago so who knows how long ago it was scanned.

Hopefully you can fix it.

I do not remember if the original marketing piece was set up as vertical or horizontal. I think I may have the headline right but please let me know if it is inaccurate. I set the type in photoshop for now, but it will be cleaned up in the final. I cleaned up the hi-res image as best I could, and it looks good on screen, not sure what a high-res poster will reveal though. Thought you guys might like a glance at my progress so far.

If there are, then I am already in big trouble for the desktop background I am using .

I am doing this for personal and not commercial reasons. I do not plan on selling the posters. Rather, I plan on doing a limited run for a few friends at no charge. I am sure Falon McElligot (the agency who developed the campaign in 1989) and PCNA will forgive me for some free branding work for them.

The poster came out in the Summer/Fall of 1991. It was, also, issued as a mag print ad, both as a one page and a two page, so if you search for a vintage Road & Track you might find an original.

In fact if you watch Seinfield very very closely from that time period, on the far left of the set on the wall next to the windows you will see the large owner version of the poster.

I just need to replace the font with Franklin Gothic Condensed, and I should be done. Will run a test print full size to see how it comes out. Thinking 36"x24".
