I saw a 911Sc with a Das Schild trunk lid liner and I'm thinking about getting one for my 911. Anybody have one? Can a layer of insulation be added between the liner and hood? it might help keep the trunk cool, either a think bat of fiberglass, or the sheet styrofoam. Dont want to trap moisture/condensation, as it could cause rust. Would like to hear from those who have added a plastic underwood liner. Here's a link of one of many suppliers: Pelican Parts https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog...SCHILD_pg1.htm
What would you want that liner in there for? (real question, not necessarily doubting, but ...)
I read the thing on that link page, and the only thing they talk about is if you've got a bunch of crap loaded in the front trunk and pile on the hood to close it, denting it. Seems there's an easier way to avoid that problem.
I do see how it could help with thermal insulation if you have a need for that. Or to cover up dents from the PO.
My thoughts were more for insulation than protection, but it wouldn't hurt to have something to keep the hood from being damaged by stuff inside. My wife uses it go shopping now and then, plus I will be doing a camping trip this summer and I could see something big sticking up, dimpling the hood. Mostly to keep things a bit cooler, a dark car and 100 degrees makes for a very hot trunk.
