Hey Gang,
I have orig. Bilsteins with about 70K on them.
I dont think they are shot but I do think its
time to upgrade. I like the idea of an adjustable
Koni but from what I have been told I cant do that.
The car is primarily my daily driver so I dont want
the stiffness of a 2x4, but I do DE
( 5 times last year & hopefully the same this year).
I currently run 15" rims but I just bought some 16"
that I am thinking of swapping to....... HELP
Regards,
Rich

70,000 miles plus DE? That's a lot of wear and tear.
Why not replace your old Bilsteins for new Bilsteins. You'll definitely feel the difference. Besides, they're hard to beat for a shock that works for DE but isn't too stiff for the street.
(I just installed them in my '69 911E and had a blast at my 1st DE event.)

if your the original owner of the Bilsteins ? Bilstein should exchange them.
I think that if I needed new Bilsteins I would send the old ones to Steve Weiner for a custom revalving..

I dont think that Bilstein would honor an OEM that is 27 year s old!
That being said there is no sign of a failure. Ans as far as having them
rebuilt I dont have a spot to leave the car laid up. I need a set in hand
so I can bolt them in and go! Thanx for the response.

My 24 year old Bilsteins are in CA right now being rebuilt and custom revalved to match my new torsion bars. Cost was only $65ea plus shipping.
This is the most cost effective route, but you end up with a custom shock that is tuned to your car.
BTW, the settings ended up having less compression than a standard Sport shock but more rebound. Therefore, the car will not be as jarring as if it Sport shocks.
This seems to be the hot custom setup.
