Default 911 SC 3.0 ‘83 - how does the tach get its reading

Hi,

i have a few issues with my tach (rev counter).

Just trying to to understand how this system works.

Where does the tach read the RPM from ? Where is the sensor ?

signal comes from the points or distributor module. This signal is fed to the CDI and the tach.

You can test the tach with a square wave generator.....not a very fancy gadget. Ask around for one. If the tach works when connected directly to the generator they trace the wiring back.
