Question Trickle Charger????????

My 86 3.2 has been in storage in my garage for over two months now. This morning when i went to check on my little baby i found that the battery has gone flat, i sort of knew this would happen eventually and i have been looking for a trickle charger or a pulse charger. The trouble is i am having a hard time sourcing a good quality unit. So can any of you out there recommend a unit that you use or one's i should stay away from. I could use the name of the supplier as well. I live in Manchester, England and i am looking to get a charger as quick as possible.
Many thanks, Nat

Nat,

I was going to suggest Sears, then I saw you are in England-do they have Sears there? I bought an inexpensive trickle charger about 15 years ago and it still works. Get one that has an automatic turn off feature so as to prevent accidental overcharging.

Good hunting

I don't know if they sell them on your side of the pond, but Schumacher makes a small 1.5 amp unit that bolts into the car right at the battery. I use it when my car is not going to be used for awhile and it works great. It will charge the battery until fully charged, and then shut off and turn on again as needed. I think I paid less than $30US for it.

I have used the "Battery Tender" for both Porsches and all 3 Ducatis. It is a 1.25 Amp battery charger that charges and maintains your battery at the proper storage voltage without overcharging---unlike some traditional trickle chargers. It utilizes microprocessor technology to ensure optimal charge voltage. Cost is about US $55. Go to www.batterytender.com.

Default Try this company here in Chicago

They are called Lectric Limited. They make one for about $20.00. My friends have them on they're midyear Corvettes.

Nathan

I use an 'Airflow' unit on my 88 Carrera. Cost is £40. Try www.ariflow-uk.com.

I have no connection with this company, other than as a happy customer.

Nathan,

I have been using an Aiflow on my '76 911 for the past three years - fantastic bit of kit. Bought mine from Autofarm - 01865 331234. No affiliation.
