Default Spark Plug and Wire change

How often are you changing the spark plugs and wires on your car. I have about 15,000 miles on my current set that were change at 14,000 miles about 15 months ago. I have an 86 911 with the 3.2.

Thanks

Shawn

Hi Shawn:

I recommend new plugs between 15K and 20K miles. It makes a difference in smoothness and upper RPM power.

The OEM Beru wires/connectors should be checked every 10K miles with a DVOM for resistance as the plug connectors go bad.

IF you use the Magnecor ones, they will last 40-50K and don't need frequent checking since the Magnecor plug connectors do not contain those troublesome resistors that the Beru ones do and the wire is of FAR better quality.

Thanks for the Reply Steve. I did put the Magnecore wires on at 15K so I will just look at getting a set up plugs for now.

Hi ....where can the Magnecore wires be purchased most economically? Are they tough to install? Sorry, but got to ask...I heard from the Pelican guys that a special spark plug socket is needed. What suggestions do you have? Thanks for the advise, George

I bought mine from Apex about 6 months ago. They were about $30 cheaper than anyone else. Seems that I payed about $110. Here's a link.

I bought mine from Pelican Parts (www.pelicanparts.com) but it looks like APEX is much cheaper.

I second Apex as a source - best price, and you'll get the correct set for your car.
