Looking at a 2003 911 Carrara 4 AWD Converivle in a different city that I live in. The seller is a used car dealer and is selling it As Is because of an engine slap noise. Anyone have any idea what an engine slap noise is and can it be repaired. I know it’s not an easy question to answer but some ideas of what could be wrong and a potential cost to repair would be helpful. Thanks.

This is not the right forum for watercooled 911s, however piston slap noise in a 996 is fatal, and not uncommon. I believe there are some other noises that sound similar that aren’t as big of a deal, but it’s a deafening bet that you’ll have some money getting it back in shape. I’d probably skip it and look for a better one
