Default 1984 3.2 targa 5th gear

Hi -
I've got a question about 5th gear in my 84 targa. Feels and sounds a little "buzzy" when I shift into it. Just doesn't feel like it has the same pull through like the other gears. At freeway speeds and accelerating, I think I can even hear a little "whistle" "tinny" sound. Goes away when I let off the gas. Comes back when I put on the gas again. Only 5th. Anybody have any ideas/thoughts about what might be going on with my 5th gear? Thanks.

5th & reverse and their associated shared shift forks are in the end housing, It sound like maybe the shift fork is either bent, worn or misadjusted, in any event the trans will need to come out of the car.
