Default Need Front Strut Seals

Can anyone point me to a source for strut seals for the "early" Bilstein front struts? The early struts did not have a lip machined at the top. They were constant diameter all the way up. They did not use a separate grease seal and (large) grease cap. The struts I'm trying to rebuild are from a 74 Carrera. Porsche does not have a part number for the seal.

Thanks in advance!

Bilstein has those seals.

You'll likely need to have one of their dealers procure them for you.

Hi Steve, I've spoken to Bilstein in Poway at length. They could not find a part number for the correct seal. I have part numbers from them for the separate seal and cap configuration used on "later" struts. That config won't work because it fits a strut with the outer diameter machined down at the very top. They pulled engineering drawings to get measurements to verify that.

Porsche parts catalog supersedes the strut number (911.34.079.36) I have with one (911.34.079.33) that corresponds to the strut Bilstein currently offers with the lip at the top.

Bilstein offered to try to get the correct seal if I could find a part number for it.

I'm currently out of them here otherwise I would give you the numbers off one of them to look up (unless its a proprietary size).

I've not purchased them in some time so it may be NLA, however I will find out this week.

Steve, for reference, the part numbers for the "late" configuration (i.e., the ones that won't work) are:

Grease Seal E4-B36-800A
Grease Cap E4-B36-627

Hi Bob - Thanks for working on this mess. I wish the shop across the country would have sent the parts from the struts when he disassembled them. I emailed him about a week ago about this and have not heard a word. I really appreciate it. Hopefully this gets worked out soon so the car can go on the ground. Michael
