Default Porsche GTS models - What generations

Hi All

I searched google and this forum and was surprised I couldnt find the answer to this.

I know of the 997 GTS and the 991 GTS, but what were all the generations and years, that the 911 GTS models have been released.

And were they released for the total generation run eg 997.1 and 997.2?

Many thanks.

We don't know. This is the section for old aircooled cars.

997.2 and 991 are the only ones; no 997.1. The GTS launched in 2011, and has been available since (there might be some gaps as they transition between chassis changes and facelifts). Of course the Boxster, Cayman, others have it too now.

I think the first time Porsche used the "GTS" nomenclature was on the '64 904, a race-only car. Porsche also used "GTS" on the 924 Carrera GTS, a car developed specifically for motorsport homologation.

While you could argue there are comparable models of previous 911 generations, none have been explicitly titled a GTS.

Great answer many thanks for that.

I have a 928 GTS but didn't realize they only released a Carrera GTS until the 997.2 series.

I drove a 991 GTS manual and was VERY impressed, hence I'm on the lookout to buy a manual RHD.

Thanks.

Great help thank you so much. My first ever post resulted in a dead end, so I'll keep trying.

I wasn't aware if there were GTS air cooled models or not.

The 904 was badged as a "Carrera GTS." The 924 Carrera GTS was only badged as GTS (it was a hot version of the Carrera GT).

The 904 is air cooled, but the flat-four engine is in the middle.
