Question Replacement Dash???

Can someone recommend a source for a replacement dash for an '81 SC? Mine is cracked and its the only defect on the entire car, so I want to get it fixed.

The interior is tan w/ dark brown trim (dash included) so I'm guessing a dark brown dash may be hard to find.

Any idea what this item may cost?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt

see

Pelican Dash Pads

Black only $439.75

Or Just Dashes

They refinish - supposed to be around $450 to start.

Do a search here or on the Pelican boards on dash pads. You will get many opinions & options.

Matt,

I would also suggest you try Sunset Porsche.

The last time that I did a dash project, Sunset's cost plus pricing was significantly lower than Pelican's.

I would guess that a brown or tan dash for an SC may be NLA, or at best a special order item as opposed to standard black. (and assuming you need basic vinyl, and not a leather covered dash.)

Good luck,
Tim

GT Racing sells a fiberglass dash top for $240. You could buy that and cover it with a matching leather/vinyl if you can't find the correct color combo you need. The only problem would be I don't think the dash from GT has center vents cut out.

Of course, now that I think about it, you could probably re-cover your existing dash if the crack isn't too bad...

Check Ebay. Things like this occasionally pop up, and often times that black dashes go for big bucks, while the more rare colors go for less. I guess the other colors are just not as sought after.
