I have a 1969 911E targa and was looking for production numbers on it and possibly the value after restoration. The car has some unique features including the soft window, luggage area behind the rear seat and tonneau cover for the interior area. I have a lot of documents from the original owner ordering the car directly from Germany. I even have the original key for the lock down antenna. The car has little to no rust but is in need of a paint job which it is scheduled for. Please help if you can. Thanks Mike

Cool car! I've always liked the looks of the Soft Window Targas, and 69 is definitely one of my favorite years (I have a 68 912). Check out this book on Amazon - it's a great reference for the early year cars, including what numbers should be there and specs, etc (serial numbers for bodies and engines and more)
911 And 912 Porsche: A Restorers Guide to Authenticity by William Fishback
Also, the Porsche Market Letter price survey for 6/1/02 to 5/30/03 lists values of 6500, 10395 and 18000 respectively for low, median and high values. While not exactly scientific, it does give a good representative number for the ads appearing in the PML for the past year. You can also check to see if you can find the valuations as presented in Excellence magazine. I think they do that yearly as well.
Good luck - I'd certainly be interested in seeing pictures and hearing more about your experience with the car.
