87 Carrera stops when turning lights on
Hi
Today I experienced something strange with my 87 911. I started the engine but when I pulled the light switch the engine died just as it would if I turned off the ignition. I just tried once more and then it went ok. The next day something similar occurred, but this time the engine didn't stop completely, it just had a short glitch as I pulled out the light switch. Could it be the DME relay causing a problem as the voltage drops when the light is turned on? I replaced it and I haven't had the problem this evening so maybe it has solved it?? Anyone experienced the same? I have owned this car for 13 years and have never had this problem before.

The ignition switch and the light switch are right next to each other. Maybe something is loose back there. When the car dies, does the oil pressure light come on?

Today it happened again☹ I started the engine turned on the light and when I closed the door the engine stopped. No lights in the instruments and no lights either. The central locking, interior lights are still working. Can it be the famous ignition switch that I have read can cause all sorts of problems?
