Default Stereo troubleshooting advice

My 89 G50 just went in to have carpet redone. Prior to this the factory ( Blaupunkt RENO?) stereo and speakers were working fine, altabeit not very good sound.

After I got the car back the stereo has power, but no sound. I have called carpet installer who say they did NOT disconnect anything as SOP.

I am hoping someone can help me through troubleshooting order of operations or any advice other than taking it to a car audio guy. I have booked an appointment there Monday.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Disconnect speaker wires from stereo and any pair of speaker wires should measure less than 20 ohms.

If you don't want to buy an ohmmeter I recall you can connect AA AAA C or D battery to the speaker wires momentarily. If you don't hear a click then the problem is in the speakers or wiring, not the stereo.

I would check the speakers as Mike described above......... FIRST. If the speakers are working you looking a a possible head unit issue or the connection from the head unit to the speakers. You can grab the speaker wires in the floor kick panels.

The likely hood of all speakers dying at the same time i would think is nill. Make sure antenna wire did not come out the back of the unit. As its the ground
