If you haven't already, check out this website with info on colors: https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...ourcharts911g/
According to the color chart I downloaded there, 335 is Gemini Metallic, but it also says the color was 1974 and 1975 only.

I suspect that the color could have been a special order, but I think you'll need help from someone more expert on the early cars. Have you tried the Early S Registry?
That color chart could have been wrong as well. If you Google Image Search "Gemini Blue Porsche" you'll find photos of 1972 and 1973 911's in that color.

Another option - they made a mistake when they stamped your tag.
For MY 72, Paint # 325 is Albert Blue, they had a metallic blue for 72, #324- special color. Also for 72 paint # 330 Gemini Blue Metallic- special color. Special color signifying a " stock" color but you had to pay extra for it.
I'll bet you can find traces of the original color under the dash or under rear seats.

strange - you have code 335 but in 1972
Here is a quote from the luminary Warren Hall:
There are two different paint codes for Gemini Metallic Blue:
1972 - 73 ... Metallic Gemini == 330
1974 onwards ... Gemini Metallic == 335

Was the paint under the tag blue or black?
If black, perhaps paint tag a reproduction - They stamped it incorrectly when they paint shop replaced? I know that's just a wild guess,.

just to give you a little insight on why I don't think that's possible.....the car was painted black throughly.......if you're gonna do something like that then you put a plaque with black color number on it..............the car is now in El Salvador and has been on a farm for the last 20 yrs.......I really don't think anyone had an idea of what we are talking about here......and the plaque looks original in its wear and tear..............

Curious if you have or are requesting a COA for the car?
Was this a US market car? If not, wonder if ROW / South America had paint code 335 before the US market.
