Your engine probably makes more hp in the denser, colder air. Enjoy it!

Using a lighter weight oil will help on the start-up. If it's inside a garage, try leaving a drop light or two under the motor overnight- motor will retain some of the heat

thanks fellahs. I was always concerned about the car in the cold, but seems like there aren't too many issues running the car in the cold as long as the engine is warmed up.

Exclamation Heres another aspect

Before this winter season I took the car out for the last cruise. It was probably about 10-20F outside. I drove the car for about 45 minutes to an hour, but the temp never really rose to the normal operating temp. I could barely get it 2/3 of the way to 180. Will this wear the engine?? I've got a 73 911E.........

the 911's earliest known ancestor - the "people's car" was aircooled in part because post war Germans did not have garages.

"Automobile" the History Channel series segment on the ' beetle" goes into this. They also have a pretty good segment on the 911.
