Default New Shift Coupling Specs

I have a 73 911T that had what I thought was a sloppy shift linkage (nicking gears occasionally). I put new bushes in the coupling in the car, but felt there was still a little too much slop, so I ordered up a new one that is even sloppier than the one I refurbed. Is there supposed to be so much movement between the bushes. I did the same repair to my 356 and once I put the new bushes in it was nice and snug.

3 sets of bushings, not counting the shifter itself, so replace all of those - I forget if the L shaped bracket goes on top of the tunnel metal or below so see where it is mounted before removal (not that a PO may have effed it up previously...)

rebuild/upgrade the shifter to newer - blueprint using Sherwood Lee's info on his website (one of the many many Renn-something or other sites)

there IS supposed to be some movement yes - maybe not as much as you have - anyone experts near you who can test?

you can always change to Hayden's Wevo design, but do the above first
