Default frunk carpet

I have two 911s, a 1986 cab that has carpet in the trunk that looks like the carpet in the rest of the car and a 1988 cab that has a material that does not look like the carpet in the rest of the car. Did Porsche cheapen the newer car or was this some type of option?

There was an option to upgrade the frunk carpeting (M974) to velour which I would assume you '86 has. The standard carpet is a perlon material which I assume your '88 has. The perlon does clean up nicely with a Bissell little green machine being that it is 100% synthetic. The '88 cab that I inherited was heavily soiled by mice and the machine completely removed the stains and odor.
