Default Suspension advice.

Any little tweaks or mods suggested to go along with changing my shocks?

The car is a 1989 911 targa with about 160000 km's on it, believed to be mostly original bits, suspension feels a bit weak or wishy washy.

For the rear, perhaps new engine mounts. For the front, highly recommend a front suspension bar, tying together the two tops of the shocks within the trunk.

if you have not done it then it is critical to replace all suspension bushings - new rubber form Elephant Racing (for most people)

if you like your torsion bars, keep them

get digressive shocks

inspect tires and set pressures so it won't understeer so much

Refresh all the suspension bushings with Elephant Racing bits and replace all your shocks with Bilstein Sports ... it will make a significant difference !
For what it's worth , i paid less for my Bilstein shocks from Chuck than what Pelican listed them for !

I've never really thought about changing torsion bars.......is there upgraded ones?

What kind of tire pressures would you suggest?

I have a set of Hotbits bargained for. Not a brand for some but, I've seen first hand the abuse they just shrug off here at the Targa NL Rally so I know they should be fine for me.

suspension is a tuned system of dampers, Springs (torsion bars) and sway bars. Change one variable and don’t adjust the rest and you can make the car handle worse, not better. Brand means not a thing without knowing how they are tuned.

I'm going through this new. Every rubber bushing is being replaced with Elephant rubber. As well, ball joints and tie rod ends (I've got turbo tie rods). A bunch of other stuff as well because the engine is out. It's a very slippery slope.

Hence why I'm asking for tips and advice.

What does turbo tie rod ends do over regular ones?

There is no rubber on the turbo tie rods ... more solid and precise !

Then you need to disclose the spec on the pretty parts you posted in the picture. We can't answer the other questions without more input from you.

The ends are actually very similar to regular ones other than the gender being reversed. It's the inner set up that is much better. It's a common upgrade but you have to upgrade the entire assembly. You can't just do the ends.

There's a whole array of larger t-bars available, whether or not to go that route depends on what you are looking for
track use for sure
aggressive street use probably

For street a lot depends on how cushy you want the ride to be

The shocks are a good place to start, Bilstein or possibly another high end euro shock is the way to go. If really doing it right a custom digressive revalve of Bilstein would be at the top of the list. Unless running fully adjustable Motion Control shocks or their like.

Bushes can be an issue, I recently replaced the 40+ year old ones in my car while doing a t-bar upgrade and they really weren't all that bad, but others w/ much younger cars have totally shot bushes, It's best to try to evaluate them in situ, or if doing t-bars then replace them as a matter of course while in there.

The biggest and most obvious improvement to handling will come for light & wide wheels and tires, If going this route do the best you can to keep tire OD down, use 25" as a max, A really nice SC/Carrera set would be 8 & 9.5 x 17, 225/45 & 245/40 using Fuchs you are limited to 7 & 9 x16 205/55 & 245/45

Tire pressures are something to play w/, I find that most people seem to run higher pressures than optimal for grip, For track I never run more than 35psi hot, street a little less. max pressures are on the door post decal, but these are max not what you want to run daily.
