I work with Photoshop for a living,that looks pretty real to me.I guess in that situation all you can do is wait for the spring thaw and hope for the best.Major Bummer.

That was posted by a rennlister months ago (happend last winter rather than recently, I guess) who said that was what he found when he returned home from a trip. The thread continued for a while, most offering condolences. In the last week or so I've had 2 different people I know send me the photo, plus it's been reposted on different rennlist forums at least twice in the last week, so I think it's getting its second life. Moral: Turn off your main water when you go off on a trip. That holds even during the summer. If a pipe bursts and runs for a few days, it makes a hell of a mess, whether it freezes or not.
