Default wet carpets

911 carrera 3.2 1988 Coupe

out in the rain on Saturday and parked outside overnight (usually in garage). All carpets wet with beads of water underneath. the front passenger carpet was wet through in parts. the rest are all wet underneath.

Could this just be condensation? Or a leak if so from where? Looked around and under dash etc. nothing obvious. What are the usual suspects.......

Regards

Check to see if there is a plastic sheet behind the door cards, stuck to the door itself. If not, make some. These are commonly removed on most cars during their lifetimes for maintenance etc. Water then enters the doors from the bottom of the windows and can run down the inside of the door cards and enter the car by dropping onto and over the door seals. Also it could be the windscreen seal, or corrosion of the scuttle panel below the screen seal. Does your car have a sunroof? Blocked drainage holes can also lead to leaks into the car by water collecting in the roof. Usually your seats will be wet in this instance. Welding rods are good to clear out drainage holes.
